Adding Notifications

Available in Enterprise Plan and above.

You can add the custom general, email, SMS, push, and notification in the notification panel. 

Go to the Settings > Notifications section in the StoreHippo Admin Panel to add a notification. Click on Add New in the top right corner. The page which appears contains five tabs. Described below are the fields under different tabs:

General

This section contains the general information about the notification. 

Name

Enter the name of the notification that will be used to send the notification.

Display Name 

Enter the display name of the notification which will display on the admin panel.

Description

Enter the description of the notification. For example, a "user_account_welcome" notification is used whenever a user registers on the store.

Group 

Notifications are grouped into three categories : 

  • Order

  • User

  • Shipping

Type 

There are three types of notifications that are sent for specific actions that take place in your store. You can choose the notifications which you want to send by enabling that checkbox in the particular notification. Following are the types of notifications: 

  • Email

  • SMS

  • Push

Email

The Email tab contains the information about email headers, message, subject for the email to be sent.

From Email

Choose the email id from the drop-down from which you want to send the email. Only verified email ids can be selected in this field. 
To add more emails to this list, you can add emails in White label emails.

To Email

Choose the email id from the drop-down to which you want to send the email. You can add a white label email. Only verified email ids can be selected in this field. 

CC

Enter the multiple email ids to be kept in cc while sending an email. 

BCC

Enter the multiple email ids to be kept in bcc while sending an email. 

Subject

Enter the subject of email mail to be sent.

Attachment

To send the attachment along with the email, you can provide the link to the attachment in this field. You can also provide the attachment using handlebar here. 

Variables & Custom Variables

Global & custom notification variables are used for creating the email template.

Message 

Enter the message to be sent in the form of the template. You can define the email template in the Edit tab and review it in the Preview tab.

SMS

The SMS tab contains a message template to be used for the SMS to be sent.

StoreHippo provides default templates for SMS notifications. The default SMS gateway configured on the platform requires prior approval of the messages that are sent. If you want to customize the SMS templates then you enable a custom SMS gateway

If you are creating the custom template, make sure these templates must be registered with your SMS provider.

Variables & Custom Variables

Global & custom notification variables are used for creating the email template.

Message

It contains the message to be sent. We can use different variables while creating the message. 

Push Notification

A push notification is a message that pops up on a mobile device. App publishers can send them at any time; users don't have to be in the app or using their devices to receive them. 

Currently, it is automated for following notifications :

  • shipping_status_change

  • order_delivery_notification

  • order_partial_payment

  • order_confirmation

You will have to enable the push notifications before sending it. You can enable it as follows:

After you have enabled the push notification, you can create the template for push notifications in Notifications as well as Mobile Apps > Push Notifications.

Title

Enter the title of the notification. This field is not visible on iOS phones and tablets.

Message

Enter the notification body text.

Logo Url

Enter the URL of the notification icon. For Android, you must set the value to my icon for drawable resource "myicon.png".

Summary Text

The summary text will be shown when collapsed. The text with the picture message is shown when the notification is not collapsed. 

Image URL

Enter the URL of the image in the notifications that you are sending to your users.

URL

Provide the landing URL on which the user is redirected when he clicks on the notification.
