Adding Notifications

You can add the custom general, email, SMS, push and browser notification in the notification panel. 

Go to Settings > Notifications section in StoreHippo Admin Panel to add a notification. Click on Add New in top right corner. The page which appears contains five tabs. Described below are the fields under different tabs:


It contains the general information about the notification. 


Enter the name of notification which will be used to send notification.

Display Name 

Enter the display name of notification which will display on admin panel.


Enter the description of the notification. For example, "user_account_welcome" notification is used whenever a user registers on the store.


Notifications are grouped into tabs by 3 categories : 

  • order

  • user

  • shipping


There are three types of notifications that are sent for specific actions that take place in your store. You can choose the notifications which you want to send by enabling that checkbox in particular notification. Following are the types of the notifications: 

  • Email

  • SMS

  • Push
  • Browser


The Email tab contains the information about email headers, message, subject for the email to be sent.

From Email

Choose the email id from the drop-down from which you want to send the email. Only verified email ids can be selected in this field. 
To add more emails to this list, you have to add emails to White label emails.



Enter the multiple email ids to be kept in cc while sending an email. 


Enter the multiple email ids to be kept in bcc while sending an email. 


Enter the subject of email mail to be sent.

Variables & Custom Variables

This field is used to add variables to the template. You can use global & custom variables for creating the template. Know how to use variables by referring notification's variables.


Enter the message to be sent in the form of template.

This tab contains message template to be used for the message to be sent. Storehippo provides default templates for the SMS notifications. The default SMS gateway configured on the platform requires prior approval of the messages that are sent. If you want to customize the SMS templates then you enable a custom SMS gatewayIf you are creating the custom template, make sure these templates must be registered with your SMS provider.


It contains the message to be sent. We can use different variables while creating the message. 

Push Notification

A push notification is a message that pops up on a mobile device. App publishers can send them at any time; users don't have to be in the app or using their devices to receive them. They can do a lot of things; for example, they can show the latest sports scores, get a user to take an action, such as downloading a coupon or let a user know about an event, such as a flash sale.

Currently, it is automated for following notifications :

  • shipping_status_change

  • order_delivery_notification

  • order_partial_payment

  • order_confirmation

You will have to enable the push notifications before sending it. You can enable it as follows:

After you have enabled the notification. you can send push notification.


Enter the title of notification. This field is not visible on iOS phones and tablets.


Enter the notification body text.

Logo Url

Enter the URL of notification icon. On Android: sets the value to my icon for drawable resource myicon.png.

Summary Text

The summary text will be shown when collapsed. But text with the picture message instead of Message is shown when the notification is not collapsed. 

Image URL

Enter the URL of a large image in the notifications that you are sending to your users.


URL on which the user is redirected when he clicks on the Notification.
